Young pilots invited to join 2021 Rallye Toulouse

Last year was the 120th anniversary of the birth of the famous French aviator-writer Antoine de Saint Exupéry (1900-2020) and the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation was to support a team of young pilots for the 2020 edition of the Rallye Toulouse-Saint-Louis du Sénégal.

Unfortunately, the international health crisis meant the Toulouse-Saint-Louis Rally of Senegal had to be postponed to September 2021. It will now take place from 18 September to 1 October 2021.

Applications are open for interested young pilots or student pilots under the age of 25 with less than 250 flight hours to their credit. For safety, they will be accompanied by an instructor.

Candidates must both be under 25 on 18 September 2021, the day of the start of the 38th Rallye. They must, of course, be passionate about aviation! They must also be available throughout the duration of the rally, from Friday 17 September to Saturday 2 October 2021.

Interested young pilots can form a crew of two pilots or student pilots and submit their application, by e-mail sent before Wednesday 31 March 2021 to airaventures@gmail.com, comprising a letter accompanied by the C.V. of the two candidate pilots.

A preselection of four or five candidate crews will then be made, in April 2021, from among the applications received.

The selected teams will be invited by boutique.aero, partner of the Rallye Toulouse – Saint-Louis du Sénégal, to spend a weekend in Toulouse, from Friday 7 May to Sunday May 9, 2021.

During this final selection weekend, the selected crews will meet representatives of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Foundation, some partners of the Toulouse-Saint-Louis Rallye, including boutique.aero, and the organisers of the rally. Candidates will also meet instructors to explain their motivation and present their aviation experience.

These interviews will take place at L’Envol des Pionniers, a place entirely dedicated to Aéropostale and the beginnings of commercial aviation, on the prestigious Toulouse-Montaudran site, from where the pilots of Aéropostale left.

The selected crew will be the Ambassador of the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Foundation, which will finance the rental costs of the aircraft that will be made available to them and the fuel needed for the nearly 10,000 kilometres that the crew will travel in approximately 50 hours of flight.

For its part, the organising association of the rally, and of which the drivers of the selected crew will be the guests, will cover the costs of accommodation and food throughout the journey.
