BAA Training Vietnam is the first ATO in Vietnam to acquire Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) certification.
BAA Training Vietnam has received the necessary certificates for UPRT training, using Airbus A320 simulators, from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV). BAA’s instructors are already certified for UPRT training.
Pilots of Vietnamese airlines are required to undergo Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), introduced by ICAO, and being implemented by CAAV.
The BAA Training Vietnam type-related UPRT is a separate training programme and it addresses the specific requirements of the relevant class on the type of aircraft.
The key areas of focus of this specific type of training are an enhanced knowledge base of the factors leading to an upset condition, spatial orientation, unusual attitude recovery, and spin recognition and recovery.
The new UPRT regulations have also brought new certification specifications for flight simulation training devices to make sure the simulators adequately represent an aircraft’s characteristics during an aerodynamic stall.
BAA Training Vietnam received an ATO certificate in September 2019 and after the successful year of operations has been recertified in September 2020. The training centre established in Hoh Chi Minh City provides A320 Type Rating courses, Airbus Cross Crew Qualification (CCQ) A330 to A320 course as well as Type Rating Instructor (TRI) training.
The company acquired and assembled two Airbus A320 full-flight simulators (FFS), A320 Integrated Procedures Trainer (IPT) and Flame V9000 Commander Fire Fighting Trainer. BAA Training Vietnam has approved A320 FFS in Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia. Among the BAA Training clients are such airlines as Bamboo Airways, VietJet Air, and others.
