Learjet is no longer a manufacturer of private jets. The iconic Wichita-based company delivered its final private jet, a 75, on Monday, 28 April 2022, in an emotional ceremony marking the delivery and end of nearly 60 years of production.
The owner of Learjet since 1990, Bombardier, decided to close Learjet last year and concentrate on its two other private jet brands, Challenger and Global.
The market for Learjet, with its characteristically small cabin but mega-performance, appears to have dried up.
However, Learjet will continue as a spares and support organisation to back-up the 2,000+ Learjets still flying, out of a total production of more than 3,000 since 1963, when Bill Lear setup the factory in Kansas.
Today marks a momentous milestone for the iconic Learjet aircraft as the final aircraft takes to the sky. We honor the Learjet history by paying tribute to present and former Learjet employees for their dedication and commitment to the Learjet brand. pic.twitter.com/iBPYfPHHR1
