Picture this: A crisp Sunday morning in May, the hum of finely tuned engines filling the air, and the sharp glint of polished chrome reflecting off classic motorbikes as riders in dapper suits roll into town.
This is the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) — an annual global spectacle that once again proved that looking good and doing good can indeed go hand in hand (or glove in glove, as it were).
This year’s DGR is on Sunday, 18 May 2025. If you’re interested, wherever you may be, register on the DGR website here.
For those unfamiliar, the DGR isn’t your average motorcycle rally. Founded in 2012, it’s a celebration of vintage motorcycling style, all while raising funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer research and mental health initiatives. Over the years, the ride has become a veritable carnival of tweed, bowties, and moustaches, and this year was no exception.
The DGR isn’t just about dashing outfits — it’s also a feast for the eyes of any motorcycle enthusiast. Previous years’ rides featured an incredible array of bikes: café racers, bobbers, scramblers and even sidecars.
Triumph Motorcycles, the event’s global partner, once again made a strong showing.
Custom builds steal the spotlight, showcasing the artistry of backyard builders and custom shops alike. One standout in Los Angeles was a steampunk-inspired Royal Enfield with brass accents and a literal pocket watch embedded in the tank. Somewhere in Mumbai, a pristine 1955 Vincent Black Shadow had vintage lovers swooning.
Amidst the laughter, banter, and photo ops, the heart of the DGR remains its mission. In 2024, the ride raised a record-breaking $16 million for Movember, the organisation driving men’s health projects worldwide. Riders and supporters pulled out all the stops to hit their fundraising goals — think bake sales, charity auctions, and even a dapper-themed dog show in Vancouver.
Here’s to the 2025 DGR — a day when the world will look a little sharper, sound a little louder, and care a whole lot more. See you this May, gents and gentlewomen!
